Mint Iced Tea

4 1/2 Cups water, Divided
8-10 sprigs of fresh mint
3 tea bags
1/2 cup sugar (I sometimes use less)
Juice of 3 lemons
2 cups of cold water

Directions

Make two separate pots of boiling water, each containing 2 1/4 cups of water. Put mint and tea bags in first pot. Cover and steep for 15 minutes. In the second pot , add the sugar and lemon juice. Pour contents of the first pot through a strainer into the second pot. Add 2 cups of cold water. Refrigerate. Serve over ice, garnish with lemon slices or mint sprigs.
